Guisborough Remembrance Parade 2020 And Wreath Laying Ceremony

The Guisborough Branch of The Royal British Legion has taken advice from Regional and National R.B.L offices and Redcar & Cleveland B.C. regarding Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day Parades and Wreath Laying ceremonies.

Therefore, this year 2020 following Government advice and current government guidelines of meetings of 6 people, sadly, there will be no parade.

The Remembrance Service is a civic event which is the legal responsibility and organised by Redcar & Cleveland B.C. with the R.B.L and other volunteers to assist.
Redcar & Cleveland B.C. have provided the following advice:-

“Due to the ongoing rise in infections Remembrance Sunday Events will not be able to go ahead as normal. Parades are not possible.  Although we understand that people will want to commemorate the day this should only be wreath laying and a small ceremony of no more than 6 people involved”.

Poppy wreaths can still be laid by individual organisations between Sunday 8th November and Wednesday 11th November, following social distance regulations of no more than 6 persons in place between those dates.

This wreath laying will not be organised by The Guisborough Branch of the R.B.L and it is up to each organisation to arrange their own wreath laying ceremony, again observing social distance regulations and no more than 6 persons in any place at that time.

If you feel you are unable to meet these conditions, your wreath can be laid by the Guisborough Branch of the R.B.L.

Wreaths will be available for all those who purchased one last year.
The official launch date for this year’s Poppy Appeal is October 23rd and poppies, wooden crosses and badges will be available on this date from various outlets.
